How I got into design

My name is Chelsea Kim and I'm a multi-disciplinary designer pursuing a design job. I graduated at the University of California, Irvine where I pursued a degree in Informatics specializing in Human Computer Interaction.

My design journey started as a kid dabbling in art and design. When I was 12, I opened a store on Pokéfarm where I sold templates which became popular in the community. When I was 16, I entered into a contest with a 2D animation video on cybersecurity and won first place out of hundreds of applicants. I received $2,500 in scholarship and I got to meet Ohio's Attorney General. My love for art and design grew further as I got older and I decided I want to pursue this passion of mine as a career.

Design means to me being able to recognize a user and client need and creating something that makes an impact. As a Graphic Designer, I always try to understand what message or story I want the user to receive from my designs. I not only make things look pretty, I design with intention and impact.

My goal is to make a difference with my designs. I believe as the world is evolving digitally that good design is crucial for making a lasting impact. I want to create intuitive, innovative, and functional designs that expand across a diverse audience. Everyone should be able to use, decipher, and understand any digital experience.
