How I got into UX design
My name is Chelsea Kim and I'm a student at the University of California, Irvine pursuing a degree in Informatics specializing in Human Computer Interaction.
I have experience as a UX designer at Orcasound where I learned essential UX skills such as interviewing through user testing and analyzing the data to come up with design decisions. I came to understand the importance of communicating with developers as well as the design team.
I volunteered as a crisis counselor which has helped me as a UX designer because I gained skills such as empathizing with the user. I believe this has been a crucial skill as it allows me to think like the user and thus make an app that is more enjoyable and usable.
I believe that since the world is evolving digitally, interfaces designed with good user experience should be the norm. Creating design that is easy to use, innovative, and have a delightful experience are part of my core values. Everyone deserves to have a positive digital experience.
